Final designs

The first thing i made was my re designed logo. i redesigned phones4u as it is a failing company. i redesigned it as a phone as it would attract younger people and they would recognise it as a phone. i have made it an iphone even though they do not sell iPhones as it is  popular phone so would attract people even though it is false advertising. Since it is a cartoon it could be any different phone so people wouldn't get mad for the false advertising. The inspiration i got for my logo obviously came from the name as it is a phone shop i went for the idea of a phone which is when i started sketching. To make my logo, i started by doing  sketch to get an idea on what i wanted  my logo to look like, i then opened illustrator and started to make my design. I began to draw all the outlines using the line segment tool, i also used the ellipse tool to make the home button and the camera lens at the top. The next tool i used was the rounded rectangle tool to make the speaker under the camera. After that i used the curve tool to make a curve on the cable. I then continued to fill in the screen with a red colour like the original phones for you logo. Along with adding the name of the company using the text tool

I then made a website, i used a normal phone website to use as a base to see what kind of things i could add. i added a home which would have special deals and top products. i then added products were you could see all the phones they sell, and lastly a contact us were you could see phone numbers and addresses.

on the home page i had a large title and the logo i made, i also had top products and Christmas deals so customers would see the best deals. To make this i just used my imagination and the website. i didn't do any drawing or rough designs i just got straight in and changed it when needed. I used the rectangle tool to make all lines to separate the page up and make the design under the name. I pasted my logo in so it was on the home page of the website. I then used the text tool to type all the writing. up. I switched to photoshop and used the quick selection tool and the magnetic lasso tool to select pictures of phones and i pasted them in to be examples o what he company sells.

I put my poster into a real life situation by placing it on top of a bus stop poster. I think if it was real it would look quite good as it stands out really well as it has really bright colours for ht name,  red background and the white phone and poster. The black outlines also make the phone stand out a lot. I have also added a bit of detail for the cable, home button, camera lens and speaker.

 i used hue and saturation to see what my logo would look like with different colours and weather it would look good brother or darker, i then used curves to make my logo black and white. i like it this way as it wasn't as vibrant but if it was to be a logo it would catch as many peoples eyes. I experimented with colours to see if the logo would look, better or worse with different shades. i decided that the original logo i made worked best; with the red and white.

i used photoshop to change the colours of my logo which worked really well and was really easy to do as i have used photoshop before and it helped me see what the logo would look like i used illustrator to make the logo and website which was easy although i made a few mistakes and had to delete things and keep going back to make things look right. i also took a while on the colours trying to get them right and to put them where i wanted them but all in all it was rather easy to make them.

What i learnt- I learnt how to use a lot of photos skills. some things i can't remember  and i have to ask how to do them or look back and other subjects which tells me how to do it but some tools i can do straight away as they are easy to remember. i think i am better at photoshop as i also use it a lot in photography
What went well- i think that my logo came out really well as i spent a lot of time designing and making it. I went wrong a few times which i was able to fi easily but i could get everting right first time as I'm  to an expert at photoshop or designing logos. I also think that my logo looked really good on the bus stop.
How i could improve- My website could have had more effort. i think i should have done a rough drawing or it first rather than just starting it straight away because i struggled on ideas for the absit and i had to look at another phone website for more ideas which is were i got the idea for the christmas deals.

Phones 4U-

I selected phones 4u as it used to be a very popular company but after phone companies refused to sell their phones to the company it went bust. I thought that because our generation is a lot about technology it would be interesting to look at.

The company sells phones and technology but as you can obviously tell from the title mainly phones.

They're target audience is most likely, teens and young adults trying to buy new phones or get old ones fixed.

Phones 4u uses tv adverts to advertise their company.

Re branding company's

OLD FRIJJ LOGO-
Personally i peter this logo as its more unique than the other one but i think the reason it might have failed was because of the font. The style of font could be hard to read for younger kids and older people, the i and j's look very similar too.

NEW FRIJJ LOGO- Made by GREY LONDON
this new logo is a lot simpler but also a little better. It is far easier to read for old and young ages. The way they have a different design for the dots on top of the i's and j's is a really sting and good idea as even though it is small it still adds a lot to the logo.More people would buy the drink as it has an easier to read logo.

 OLD CHANNEL 4 LOGO-
This logo is very colourful as the whole logo is made out of lines in different colours, i think that it might be a little too colourful, if they were too have a few lines in colour and some in either black or white .









NEW CHANNEL 4 LOGO- Made by DONT PANIC
The new logo is a lot more interesting and more full, it has a more difficult design. i think the bad thing about this logo is people with bad eyesight might not be alb to tell its a number 4 and it doesn't have clear outlines on it and some areas may look a bit weird and like there not meant to be there. More people might watch the channel as when they see the logo they might be interested.

 

OLD GATORADE LOGO-
The old gatorade logo has an interesting design but it could be a little plain for advertising, its a simple lighting strike with a plain test for the name, the text is boring and in just a small box instead of a more interesting design, the colours orange and green also don't go very well together.

NEW GATORADE LOGO- Made by VML LONDON
The new logo is a lot more interesting. the text is still very boring but if you were to get rid of the writing which i believe he company do the large G still show you what drink is. the lighting strike is now a lot more updated with better colours and a better design in general. More people might buy the drink as it has far nicer colours.

Failing Companys

PHONES 4U

Phones 4u failed because Britain's biggest mobile-phone operator, EE, owner of the orange and T-mobile brands, decided that they were not going to allow phones 4u to sell their phones. this followed a similar decision by vodaphone, phones 4u had already been dropped by two other operators. O2  and Three.

                                                             BLACKBERRY

Blackberry failed because of the iPhones. the Blackberry phones were very popular while iPod was out as you couldn't call from the iPod, but once apple realised the popularity in the iPod they decided to bring out the iPhone, this caused a downfall in the amount of people being blackberrys. people do still buy balckberrys but they are not as popular.

HMV

HMV’s demise is a structural failure; it failed to keep pace with both the shift to digital entertainment content and online retailing. Bad christmas sales left HMV unable to secure bank loans and the 92 year old stores now looks set to close, with the loss of 230 stores and around 4000 jobs. Most people agree that HMV's inability to compete with online stores such as amazon as well as supermarkets like tesco and sainburys had led to its down fall.

This is my starting photo, i thought this placement would be a good idea as the slogan is 'feel weightless' so someone holding the shoe into frame looks like its floating. i also used the photographic techniques of 'rule of thirds' by putting my picture towards one corner and also 'depth of field' by blurring out the background.
I didn't manage to take screenshots but i did lighten up the shoe slightly.

Next, i used the magnetic lasso tool to select part of the vans logo by selecting all around it.

I then placed the part of the logo onto the picture and adjusted the size and put it into the corner.









I then selected the rest of the logo and placed it into the photo, i took a while adjusting the logo and playing with sizes until i got the size i wanted/

After that i used the curves tool to adjust the colour and make it slightly brighter.

 I then continued to use the text tool and add the slogan 'Feel Weightless' suggesting how lightweight and comfortable the shoes are.

This is my final design i really like it because i have enhanced the colors of the shoe making it stand out alot more. i enjoyed making it as i was able to use both my photography skills and photoshop skills in the same project.

 My photos came out well, i took them all in different positions to get different angles in the photos. to improve i cold take a few more photos using different lighting. This would chafe the look of the photos

When i took my photos i adjusted the positions and the lighting of my photos. i moved the iPad around to get the pictures from different angles and levels.

To make my picture I'm going to need to get a backdrop of a sky or try and adjust my shoe infornt of the sky, i will also need someone to hold my shoe up by the laces so i can take the photo of the shoe. Once i have taken the photo i will need to use either photoshop or illustrator to add the vans logo on. I like my picture because it different and it almost shows how vans would make you weightless and also how light the shoes are.     

i made it on photoshop and use the magnetic lasso tool to select the shoe, laces and logo and then pasted them onto my background

Three adverts to analysis

 This poster is really good because the background is similar to the design of the shoe so it makes the shoe stand out. Its really well done because it says stand out and the shoe has random colors so you would stand out. The target audience would be kids and teens, most likely girls because of the style of shoe, but its also unisex because of the camo color. The company who created this shoe might have used photoshop to put the picture of the shoe onto the poster and added the writing.

The poster for this shoe is alot more creative as it shows all of the colors you could get the shoe in, the white background makes the shoe really stand out with all the colors on it. The quote also adds to the poster. To make this the company would most likely use photoshop to add the paint and make it really bright. The target audience is probably aimed at children, teens and young adults. If i was going to make a poster i would use the way the have used color to make it really stand out to get peoples attention. Its showing all the colors you would get in the shoes and how you would stand out from everyone as the shoe is so bright and colorful.

This poster is very plain yet very effective, its aimed at younger children and teens as its really simple but the bright colours draw your eyes to it. the cartoon looks really good against the background because the bright colours go well together. To create the poster thy probably would have used illustrator to create the base lines and the outline of the leg and shoe but they also could have used photoshop to add the detail to the shoe and add in the logo. i really like this poster and if i was to make one i would use the same kind of design as this as even though its rather simple it still looks really good.

C Grade.

People who create carton movies would be more likely to use illustrator as it has more of cartoon side,  because you can make shapes, curves and lines which would be good to create cartoon whereas more complex films with actors would most likely be on photoshop as its easy to photoshop things for a movie poster, other people who would use it might be photographers as they might use it to edit their photos. although, people who create video games might use both, they might use illustrator for creating the characters and possibly photoshop for creating the game cover or some backgrounds for the game.

Photoshop use pixels as it has the pictures in tiny pixels which stay so when you zoom in or make the photo larger it will stay like the original and not go burly, but if you zoom in too far he pixels will be visible, the squares all add up to make the actual picture, whereas vectors are like a sheet of paper with no pixels whatsoever. so vector are good at making animations as they won't have any of the pixels.

On photoshop i used it to create a unrealistic image, by using certain tools sou can crate an image which looks like the photos are together, so yo could photoshop a house onto an island and make it look like the house was there, if our really skilled you cold photoshop people together.
On illustrator i created a timeline of a logo, i used the line tool and shape too to create and timeline which looked like a movie reel and the text tool to add the dates, it then i brought the to together, i the used photoshop to crop some logos to add to my timeline, when i had made the timeline  i bought them back together by putting my timeline onto photoshop and placed it into a picture of the museum go brands and edited my photo so it looked like it was in he museum.

On photoshop i leant how to use lots of the tools, like... the text tool, the magic wand tool, the magnetic lasso tool, the marquee tools, the brush tool, the crop tool, the zoom tool and how to add and take away layers, i also learnt a few tools on illustrator, the selection tool, the type tool, rectangle tool and the line segment tool, i also leant how to create things on them both as originally i didn't know how to use them but now i know how to use most of the tools.

I gained alot of ideas, now i know what most of the tools do you could create lots of different things, from using photoshop to create posters for movies or books to using illustrator to create a cartoon or maybe even using both to create a short movie, you could use them both its lots different ways, mainly for media reaped things though.

I enjoyed using illustrator to create the timeline, my favorite things on it where creating the timeline because i found out that you could use the line, curve and shape tools to create lots of different things, and i also liked the way you could move the curves a certain way to change the way it curved. On photoshop i enjoyed making the eric jonasson inspired picture as we got to be really creative and create what ever we wanted and it was apt of fun.

I found that when we created the timeline on illustrator that the background changed alot and i had to keep changing it back to the original color but after while i changed it and clicked this icon and it stayed the way it was meant to be. On photoshop i found that the first stage of creating the eric work hard but once i had done some of it i found the rest of it rather easy.

The advantage of using illustrator is that you can create lines, squares and other shapes easier and quicker than using photoshop, although on photoshop you can create very different images but using all the tools, you could use it to just edit a photo or you could use it to create more complex images like eric's work.

The drawbacks are if you had never used the programs you probably wouldn't be able to do much as on it as you wouldn't know what to do because it doesn't come wit instruction so you would end u looking on the internet, ut if you knew what you were doing it would be alot easier but sometimes when your trying to create a picture the tools might to be capable of doing war you wanted to do so you wouldn't be able to finish the picture.

I would like to know how we can use them together to make animations,  so we could possibly make a character or object on illustrator and then put them into photoshop and make an animate and vice-versa.

I feel quite confident on the programs but i would like to learn how to use just a few more tools.

I think that a younger audience would be attracted to my poster as it is a bright color which usually attracts younger children as older people might be more invested in darker things and kids would be drawn to it, younger children might also be attracted to it as it is universal which is a film company which children and teens watch, although some adults would watch it too. The design of it is a movie reel as its based on movies because universal is a company which creates movies, usually which people rather than cartoons.

How I Created It.

I created this by using photoshop, i copied and pasted the poster onto a picture from the museum of brands and then put it in the area of where it would go and adjusted the size, secondly i clicked on edit and went down to transform, once i had done that i held down the transform option and went down t distort, once i had done this i went back to the poster, held down shift, and stated to move it to make it look almost like it was against the wall like the poster that was there before then ticked it and i was finished. I think it would look better if i adjusted to color to make it look darker and have sunlight on to fit in with the other pictures.

universal logo timeline- illustrator

To start i got my first layer of red, which is the background, then i got my second layer and started to add my lines to start my timeline using the 'line segment tool' this was the start of the timeline. my timeline is based on a movie reel as my logo is universal which is a company which creates movies.

After i had got my main lines i started to work on detail by doing the rectangles down the side, this was to add more detail so you would be able to tell what the timeline was based on. To add the rectangles i used the rectangle tool.

 Eventually i finished the rectangles i got around to adding in the dates, this way you would be able to tell what times the logos started and ended, i placed them so i would still have room for my logos. To add the writing i used the type tool.

 I then started to get and add my logos, on photoshop, i used the magnetic lasso tool, to select the photo and the copied the logo and pasted it into illustrator.







Then i did all the other logos and pated them and moved then into the correct place using the selection tool. my work was then completed, and i can show how i did my work by taking screenshots as i went.

Illustrator homework

This penguin created on illustrator is simple but also very effective, it looks good because you can easily tell its a penguin and its very well create for a first try. this penguin could be used for different things, e.g a logo, a book, a picture for a notepad or pencil case or just used as a picture in someones room, although it is plain and simple it still looks very good.
